About CHIM
The original vision was conceived in 1984 while Roger de Brabant was working for OnTel, at a time when Christian Broadcasting was illegal in Canada. After many years of prayer and waiting upon the Lord, the breakthrough came with the June 3, 1993 CRTC decision which finally allowed Christian Radio Stations in Canada. Immediately upon hearing the good news, de Brabant started working on an application for a Christian station in Timmins. At this time, the only Christian Radio Stations that were on the air where in Newfoundland, who had their two stations since before Confederation, and where therefore not subject to the rules and regulations of the CRTC.
Approved on October 27, 1995 CHIM would become Canada's first non-commercial Christian radio station. On air testing began on December 24, 1995 and we officially went on the air on that Glorious Easter Sunday morning at 8:15 am, on April 7,1996.
Our Vision
Is to build a Christian radio station in every Canadian city, town or district. Our message is simple: We want to reach people with the Good News of Salvation provided through faith in Jesus Christ. We want to reach people through the lyrics and the music of today's Christian music.
Our Statement of Faith
Amen.
